Relay for Life Event in Second Life

One of the most powerful examples of community in Second Life is the annual Relay For Life event, which helps raise money for the American Cancer Society’s fight against cancer and to celebrate the lives of people who have battled this disease. Over the past few years, more than $1 million real-life U.S. dollars has been raised in Second Life for this important cause.

This year’s fundraiser (themed “Seasons of Hope”) takes place from July 16 to 17 and features several community activities and events, including:

Live and silent auctions

Live music performances

Scavenger hunts

Exclusive, limited-edition goodies

Machinima screenings

Theatrical performances

...and much, much more!

Relay for life Silent Auction.

This Relay Weekend, July 17th and 18th, marks the very exciting premier of the spectacular St. Illuminatious Cathedral from Morphe Inc. The St. Illuminatious Cathedral is a highly detailed edifice in Second Life painstakingly created by the master of primitives, Abel Dreamscape, over three months from replicating elements of some of the most famous cathedrals of Europe.

or, even better, visit it in-world to personally experience this beautiful monument inspired and built to honor the life of Abel's father, lost to colon, pancreatic and lung cancer on April 21, 2006.

This Monumental mega structure in Second Life can only be described in superlatives. It is perfection in every detail and by far the most impressive structure you are likely to ever come across let alone have a chance to own! And yet you can!

This is a priceless build, you can't put a price on a son's love for his father.

Fantasy Faire 2010 opens tomorrow!

One day to go until the public opening of Fantasy Faire 2010. And we have the SLurls all ready for you. The general public won’t be able to access the Faire until Monday 19th, as the full Faire is being setup this weekend, but you will always find these SLurls ready for your use on the SIM & Creator Listing page for this official website.

In the meantime, here is a very freshly born SL Map for you – I took it at around 6am this morning PDT, and as the landscaping and building teams are still at work as we speak, I’m sure that there will be a more filled one tomorrow.

This nine sim event is bringing together such fantasy genres as Fairy, Elven, Magic, Mermaid, Goth, Demon, Vamp, Neko, Tiny, Sci-Fi and more! FFC’s goal in 2010 is to raise $15,000 USD for RFL of SL. The Fantasy Faire 2010 will also offer visitors an opportunity to celebrate the survivors of cancer, remember and honor loved ones lost, and to fight back with the American Cancer Society.

RFL Clothing Fair 2010 !

The Clothing Fair committee is proud to announce the dates for Second Life's 4th Annual Clothing Fair benefiting Relay for Life. Events are set to launch on Saturday, March 13th at 3pm slt and run 24/7 through Sunday, March 21, 2010 when the doors must close at 9pm SLT.

The Clothing Fair began as a dream three years ago with 34 stores participating in this event for Relay for Life. Since that date, it has grown to over 150 designers over 9 sims and has raised over 11 million Linden Dollars for RFL.

This year is no different. Prepare to be immersed in 8 of the greatest "Fashion Cities of the World" surrounding a center sim patterned after the UN Sculpture Gardens containing sculptures from some of SL's most talented artists.

We have some of the cream of the crop coming together in the fashion world of Second Life bringing designs from all over the world to this virtual shopping experience. Each of these designers dedicate months of time getting ready for this event. They are all committed to raising as much money for Relay for Life as possible.

This year we are again inviting the Live Musicians and DJ's of Second Life to join us. Covering 24/ 7 through-out the fair, fund raising, and letting us all know just what can be found through-out the 9 sims.

On the 15th to 21st of June of 2009, Friends Fighting Cancer with support from the Phoenix Wave Team will transform more than half a million square meters of Second Life into the biggest gathering of Fantasy designers, enthusiasts and performers in the history of the virtual world..

This first-of-it’s-kind gathering will bring the top Creators from a wide range of fantasy genres together for a week of commerce, events and fund-raising to benefit Relay for Life.

RFL Photo Expo 2008

From Friday June 13th until Wednesday June 25th, the expo organized by Claudia Mantis takes place at Rezzable's Cannery and features photographs taken especially for the event by well-known SL photographers including Ganymedes Costagravas, Stephen Venkman, Nephie Eerie and myself, Taylor Flanagan under the title 'Celebrate, Remember, Fight Back'. All the exhibits will be auctioned off, with the proceeds going to charity.
